Today was a day to get settled in and get familiar with Lou’s house and its surroundings. Lou has a very lovely little dog, a Bichon Frise poodle mix, named Banjo.

Lou also has a couple dozen birds housed in an aviary in his garden. There are lots of parrots and canaries. When we go out to see them, they raise a ruckus.

One of our major to-do items today was to go to a mobile phone vendor and get SIM cards for our phones and our portable WiFi. Lou drove us to the village of Woy Woy where an Optus store was in a shopping center. I had done some research and knew pretty much what I wanted. Little did I know that a foreigner getting an Aussie SIM card is required to show a passport. Of course, we didn’t think to carry them with us. So we went back home and returned later in the day to complete our purchase. Now, we have portable WiFi and local cellular service complete with Aussie phone numbers.
Lou drove us around the area showing us some of the sights. We ended up at Putty Beach. I had mentioned to Lou that I was interested in a coastal walk in Bouddi National Park and we went to Putty Beach to check out where the trailhead was. Tomorrow we’ll hike the the Bouddi Coastal Walk.

So glad to see you made it. Also glad to see no mention of the fires. We are very happy for you.
I really like Banjo! He is now the 2nd dog in my heart. So I have two doggie pals in my life now: Louise and Banjo. Interesting that they are both white and beautiful. Most importantly, they don’t scare me at all, which is amazing. Lucky me!
